IDENTIFYING MARKS FOR JEWS IN THE

GOVERNMENT-GENERAL, NOVEMBER 23,1939

Regulation for the Identification of Jewish Men and Women in the

Government-General, November 23, 1939

Pursuant to § 5, Para. 1, of the Edict of the Führer and Reich Chancellor on the Administration of the Occupied Polish Territories, dated October 12, 1939 (Reichsgesetzblatt 1, p. 2077), I order:

§ 1

All Jews and Jewesses within the Government-General who are over ten years of age are required, beginning December 1, 1939, to wear on the right sleeve of their inner and outer garments a white band at least 10 cm. wide, with the Star of David on it.

§ 2

Jews and Jewesses must procure these armbands themselves, and provide them with the required distinguishing mark.

§ 3

1) Violations will be punished by imprisonment.

2) Cases will be judged by Special Courts.

§ 4

Orders required for the implementation of this regulation will be issued by the Chief of the Internal Administration Division in the Governor General's office.
